Oman’s government has revealed that 2,500 jobs are to be created for its citizens by several transport development projects, the Times of Oman reported.
The projects include the development of the Adam-Thumrait highway – which is set to be completed by autumn 2019, the reuse of the old Muscat airport, and research on the operation of Musandam Airport.
Last year, a total of 3,500 people were employed in the logistics sector in 2018.
The Omani government has been seeking to reduce unemployment levels for citizens of Oman as part of the Omanization project. Last year, an expat visa ban was initiated, resulting in more than 65,000 locals being employed in the private and public sectors.
Prior to the Omanization project, nearly 71% of Oman’s work force was made up of expatriates.
